Matt's Blog
13 June 2008
Time for a quick blog, I know it’s been a while… again…
Well there’s been a lot of doom and gloom in retail recently, certainly in the wine trade, with the budget not helping us out… brave for a couple of Scotsmen to put that huge amount of additional duty on Whisky…
But I’m very pleased to say that with summer very much arriving with us (although as I’m typing the rain is of course pouring down) and brought a lot of people back to Henley Street we’ve really been rushing about like its Christmas.
Events have certainly helped us along the way and recent activities with Malbec restaurant, Queans restaurant, Paxton & Whitfield and the Grosvenor Hotel to name just a few have really kept us unbelievably busy.
Our next event is over at Eleven restaurant in Leamington Spa which we’re really looking forward to. Check out the events page…
As I’m sure many of you know, although I work here at Vinology in Stratford-Upon-Avon, I actually live in Bromsgrove, which is home to another great independent wine merchant…. Noble Rot. I must say I was quite surprised the other week when I walked by and noticed they seem to have changed their name. I couldn’t help but take a picture. Maybe they’re going for a different sort of cliental? I hope it works for them…
Well as deliveries are as ever very regular for us, especially being based on a road that’s closed to traffic most of the day, it seems to me that’s it’s probably about time we made the investment into a van since as you can see from the picture on the right, the current Vinology ‘van’ is getting a bit too much abuse recently…
I think I’ll leave it there for now and try to do another blog within a reasonable time frame,
Slainte,
Matt.
